ConditionOriginal emulsion carries a hard diagonal stroke applied after printing. A conservation scan has been digitally repaired to remove the pen mark while preserving the print's grain and tonal damage.

Curator's note

Sidney and Reid against a lit wall, Reid standing, Sidney seated low in the frame. The diagonal pen stroke has been removed from the display scan and the standing subject's face reconstructed from the surrounding photographic detail.

The physical print remains marked and is retained in its found condition. No note accompanied the defacement, and neither surviving member claims the hand.

This catalog entry now presents the restored scan alongside the original condition report, distinguishing conservation treatment from the object itself.
