Story behind the music
Reid and Sidney were both regulars at Bay Area dance clubs. They rang in the 1990 New Year at FX, the hot new club on South First Street in San Jose. The lyrics of Kisses You Send Me evoke the feeling of a 1980s dance floor: men adopting the look and timeless cool of James Dean, while women inhabit the vulnerable beauty of Marilyn Monroe. The final verse references the retro suits worn in the 80s as the clothes of Marlon Brando in The Godfather.
